Yes, those are beautiful! I didn't know you could plant them once they had started blooming.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful is an understatement! How tall those spikes are! Whoa! Did you sprout the Onion bulbs? Can you share the tip to do so?
ReplyDeleteAll flowers from the allium family are beautiful. You've inspired me to plant some onions too!
ReplyDeleteYap very pretty. Very few gardeners grow them for their flowers. I, like chanramouli, am anxious on how to do it?
ReplyDeleteThankyou All for comments.
ReplyDelete@ Chandramouli and Khabbab: These are common red onions we bought from market and some were lying in vegetable basket for long and had sprouted, I just planted them in bags and watered them as we would do to any normal plant and there they were blooming with plenty blooms.
No special tip or trick.
Wow--I want to try planting some 'regular' onions to see what will happen. If I have any that start sprouting, I will give it a try. These are as lovely as any allium plant I've seen;-)
ReplyDeleteMost beautiful! Reminds me I must let them bloom when I plant them next. I finish off the leaves in my chutneys and bhajis!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the onion blooms photos, unique! Will try to look closer at my own onions next time...
